Due to these features that make life easier, ceramic seems to stay in our lives; from historical ages till today. One of those features of ceramic, abrasion strength, is defined with PEI value. In this article, we will try to explain the characteristics of PEI value.Abrasion strength is very important for spaces where there is an intense human and load traffic, and of course, it is very important for homes too. Using a product that is resistant to scratches and impacts in children's rooms, living rooms, bathrooms and kitchens makes our life practical and easier. Therefore, it is important to make your choice according to the using conditions of the space where you will use ceramic tiles. PEI values with different classifications specify the abrasion class and usage areas of product.
So, what are the abrasion strength classes of the ceramic products we will purchase, and what are their characteristics?
P.E.I .-1
Used in floors where there are no abrasive materials and where bare feet or footwear with soft soles (slippers, booties, overshoes) are used.
P.E.I-2
Used in floors where there are small amounts of abrasive materials time to time and where footwear with soft or normal soles (sneakers, shoes with rubber soles) are used.
P.E.I-3
Used in floors where there are abrasive materials and where footwear normal soles (leather soles) are used.
P.E.I-4
Used in floors where there are abrasive materials (metal shoes and shoes with soles including metal parts) and where there is an intense traffic (pharmacy, bank, school and hotel lobbies).
P.E.I-5
Used in floors which are exposed to extreme materials and where there is an intense pedestrian circulation (bazaars, entrances of cafeterias and their circulation spaces, rayons).
